Joan Lane Kennedy, 70, of Odum, Ga. passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026 in the Hospice of South Georgia Inpatient Unit. The Wayne County native was a Christian and a homemaker for many homes. She was a mother to her neighborhood and her home was always warm and inviting. Her natural nurturing skills could be seen in her kitchen as she would feed any child who was hungry. While she would bake and cook meals, she would encourage the little ones she fed. Her grandchildren were her heart beats. Lonnie Kennedy, her husband preceded her in death along with her son, Allen May, Jr. and several siblings.

Survivors are her children, Christine (Bill Jernigan) Kennedy of Byron, Jereme (Summer) Kennedy of Screven, Lori (Billy Conner) Kennedy, and Luke Edenfield, both of Bristol; grandchildren, Destiny, Tyler, Chloe, Max and Hudson; a great grandchild, Alayah; several siblings.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday, July 13, 2026 at Rinehart Chapel. Private interment will be in the Little Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
