James Lee "Jimmy" Harper, Sr., 71 of Jesup, Ga. died Sunday May 12, 2019 of an apparent heart attack.  The lifelong resident of Wayne County was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Ludowici, an ordained minister and a U.S. Marine Veteran serving in Vietnam.  Jimmy was a retired insurance salesman and worked many years in construction business with his son. He served several years in the Wayne County Clerk's Office and still found time to enjoy his lawn care service and travel. He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Billie Harper.

Survivors are his wife, Margaret Swain Harper of Jesup; two sons, "Little" Jimmy (Penny) Harper of Picayune, Ms, Clint Harper of Phoenix, Arizona; 3 daughters, Roxane Davis, Valisha Davis, Erica Owens, all of Jesup; stepmother, Jane Harper of California;  sister, Sharon Chaffin of Jesup; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Pastor Terry Sellers and Earl Kicklighter officiating.  Interment will be in Little Creek Cemetery with American Legion Post 311 Flag presentation. Active pallbearers will be family members.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM, Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the chapel.
