Jefferson Wylly "Jay" Davis, Sr., 84, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 in the Hospice of South Georgia Inpatient Unit.  The Pierce County native had lived most of his adult life in Wayne County and was a member of Flint Branch Baptist Church.  He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and upon retirement he was known to help many of his friends with their businesses while sharing the "gift of gab". Farm life including tractors, gardening, and working with goats, horses, cows and chickens was so satisfying to him.  His parents, Frank and Mary preceded him in death along with his sister, Ronnie Rae Davis and nephew and niece, Cecil and Rhonda Deen.

Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Shirley Priester Davis of Jesup; son, Jay (Fonda) Davis and daughter, Golda (Henry) Sweat, both of Jesup; grandchildren Allie (Michael) Arnold, Kate Davis and Stormi (Jacob) Schuyler, all of Jesup; great grandchildren, Barrett and Charlie Kate Arnold, Benny Schuyler.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, February 13, 2026 at Flint Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Hickox and Rev. Greg Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Flint Branch Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Arnold, Jacob Schuyler, Robbie Thompson, Tim Conner, Donald and Benji Priester.

Visitation will be an hour prior to services at the church.
