Jean Blanton Manning, 83, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 under the care of Hospice of South Georgia and Harborview Nursing Home Staff. The Wayne County native was a Christian and a homemaker who loved to cook and bake, especially sour cream pound cakes. She also loved to crochet, read and watch Westerns with "Gunsmoke" being the most favorite one. Her smart, funny and kind spirit was the qualities that her family endeared about her. Her husband, Paul Manning, preceded her in death along with their infant son, Bobby; her parents, Walter and Willie Blanton; sisters, Ruby Chambless and Inez Todd; brothers, Lowell Blanton, Jim Blanton and Walter "Jr." Blanton; grandsons, Jerry Michael Cheek and Andy Griffis; two step-daughters, Wendy Griffis and Claudia Cheek.
Survivors are a daughter, Paula (Jimmy) Tyson of Jesup and a son, Paul (Loraine) Manning of Lamar, S.C.; several grandchildren, including her "Baby-Little Paul" and great grandchildren; a brother, John D. Blanton of Jesup; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday, February 9, 2026 at Rinehart Chapel with Rev. Gerald Greenlee officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her family and friends.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
