Mrs. Jean Elaine Hughes Deal, age 85 of Ellijay, Georgia, formerly of Bristol, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on August 22, 2022.  Jean was born in Oak Park, Illinois to her parents, the late Ivor and Elizabeth (Mojonnier) Hughes.  She was a member of Cartecay Baptist Church.  She was a Navy veteran of 2 years, a Navy wife, and a homemaker.  Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Allison Deal; daughter, Deborah Carlile; sister, Marynel Lemke, and grandson, Robert Batten.

Survivors include her brother, Kenneth Hughes of Arab, Alabama; daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Chris Putnam of Ellijay, Georgia; son-in-law, Roger Carlile of Chicago, Illinois; grandson and wife, Richard and Melany Batten of Ellijay and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on August 24, 2022 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home, 860 Highway 301 South, Jesup, Georgia 31546, with Elder Jason Deal officiating.  Visitation will be held at 1:00pm, prior to the funeral.  Interment will follow at Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 328 Mikell Lake Rd, Patterson, Georgia 31557, in Appling County with James Williamson, Mike Deal, Eldon Deal, Jimmy Deal, Ricky Deal, Gary Deal, Donald Deal, and Van Deal serving as pallbearers.
