January 8, 1947 – August 28, 2025
James "Twyman" Vickers, 78, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025. The Alma native had lived most of his adult life in Wayne County and was a member and deacon of Anderson Drive Baptist. Twyman was a 35-year retired boilermaker with Local Lodge 26 out of Statesboro. He was most known for his love of people and selling his fresh Georgia shrimp to everyone. He lived what he preached whether fishing or hunting or "chewing the fat" with so many of his friends. His parents, J.D. and Dora Lee Vickers preceded him in death along with his former wife, Velma Vickers and a sister, Kay Boyette.
Survivors are his wife of 25 years, Faye Phillips Vickers of Jesup; 4 children, David, Keith and Terri Vickers, all of Jesup, Shane (Becky) Tabb of Jesup; sister, Diane (Jim) Luke of Waycross; brother, Jack (Debra) Vickers of Darien; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be 11 AM Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Rinehart Chapel with Reverends George Paulk and Vic Peacock officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery in Blackshear. Active pallbearers will be his family. Honorary pallbearers will be "all who loved him."
Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Friday, August 29, 2025 at the funeral home.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
