Obituary

Jesup, Ga./Avon Park, Fla. James "Bud" Scott, 78 of Avon Park, Fla., formerly of Jesup, Ga. died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at his home with his loving wife, Grace Flower George Scott by his side. He was born in Odum, Ga. to Othur and Rebie Scott and was educated in the Wayne County School System. He was a longtime member of Church of God of Prophecy in Jesup. Early in life, he learned valuable skills on the family farm and then worked at the Wayne County Stockyard for many years. He later retired with the City of Odum. He was predeceased by his parents; his nephew, Dewitt Goober; two brothers-in-law, Leonard Goober and Grady Albertson. In addition to his wife of 24 years, survivors are two step-sons, Ashley George of LaBelle, Fla and Nicky George of Avon Park, Fla.; a brother, Wayne Scott of Jesup; two sisters, Clarice Scott Goober and Joan Scott Albertson, both of Jesup; nieces, Ann Marie Scott Davis and Kimberly Anderson Mansfield both of Jesup; nephews, Glynn Goober and Joseph Anderson, both of Jesup; great nieces, Dallas Davis Hunt, Megan Kirkland and Alexis Anderson, all of Jesup; great nephews, Brandon Goober, Dustin Manning, Kaleb Kirkland, Ridge Mansfield, Jacob Anderson, all of Jesup; a lifelong friend, Darwin Mixon of Jesup. Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Old Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Harris and Glynn Goober officiating. Interment will be in the Old Bethel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his friends. Visitation will be 10 to 11 A.M. prior to services at the church. Please sign the online guestbook at www.rinehartandsons.com.
