James Matthew
Hunt III
Aug 4, 1969 — Oct 19, 2026
“O reassured soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him].”
— Holy Qur’an, Surah Al-Fajr, 89:27–28
James Matthew Hunt III, affectionately known as Abdul Malik, of Odum, Georgia, returned to The Almighty Creator on October 19, 2026, at the age of 57. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on August 4, 1969, he was the beloved son of Charlotte M. Whitely-Miller and James Matthew Hunt II.
James lived with steadfast integrity, resilience, and quiet strength. Deeply devoted to his faith, he valued opportunities to learn, serve his community, and uplift others. His faith guided his responsibilities as a son, father, brother, and friend.
A loving and dutiful son, James cared deeply for his parents. He was the loving father of six children, including the family’s first cherished set of triplets. To his eleven brothers and sisters, he was a loyal brother whose presence and place in the family will be deeply missed. Those who loved him remember his generosity, humor, and the reassurance of knowing they could depend on him.
Throughout a career spanning more than twenty years in insurance, and financial services, James helped employers and working families understand and obtain valuable financial protection. His professional accomplishments reflected his leadership, knowledge, and commitment to those he served.
His service extended beyond his profession through participation on the USDA Minority Farmer Strategic Advisory Council, recognition as an Honorary Chair of the National Business Advisory Council, and volunteer work in community financial literacy workshops.
His accomplishments were a meaningful part of his life, and his family and friends will also treasure the everyday qualities that made him James. The laughter he shared, the care he showed, and the reliability with which he stood beside others.
He is survived by his six children, four grandchildren, 11 brothers and sisters, uncles and extended family.
May The Almighty Creator forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, grant him Paradise, and comfort all who mourn him.
Indeed, we belong to God (Allah), and indeed, to Him we return.
