Hugh Dorsey Howard, JR., 77, of Jesup, Ga. passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025 under the care of Georgia Hospice Care. The Long County native was an U.S. Air Force veteran and was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired electronic technician and enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing and walking.   His parents, Hugh, Sr. and Lorene Elizabeth "Johnnie" Howard preceded him in death along with his brother, Gerald Bryant Howard.

Survivors are his son, Hugh D. "Trey" (Christy) Howard, III of Atlanta and his daughter, Karey E. (Brynn) Howard of Rochester, Minn.; 3 sisters, Noel (Denny) Brinkley of Ludowici, Janis (Tommy) Burch of Jesup, and Luanne Marsh of Cumming; a brother, Stephen Mark (Deborah) Howard of Norfolk, Va.; 5 grandchildren, Morgan, Lindsey, Joshua, Jaime and Ada; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Hospice Chaplain Ryan Wilson officiating.  Interment will be in the Jones Creek Baptist Church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be family and friends.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
