Homer Sinclair "Chip" Horton, III, 66, of Jesup, Ga. died Saturday, September 4, 2021.  The Wayne County native was a member of Crossroads Church of God and a 1973 Wayne County High School Graduate.  He was a hard worker as the CFO and print shop manager with VIP of Jesup.  He loved drag racing and was the 2002 Summit Super Series World Champion. His love of all-terrain vehicles, including golf carts, motorcycles, 3 wheelers and dune buggies. Chip was a man who never let obstacles keep him down such as losing his leg as the age of 17, surviving colon cancer and then had a traumatic brain injury. He loved people deeply and enjoyed having them around to share stories and life skills with. His wife, Suzette said he was the best husband to his Princess and loved her more than life itself. He took on the role as "Dad" to Kenny and Kayla like the champion he was. His son, Kenny C. Poppell and his father, Homer S. Horton, Jr. preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife of 23 years, Suzette Carter Horton of Jesup; daughter, Kayla (Luke) Ormandy of Jesup; his mother, Inez Barwick of Jesup; grandchildren, Willow and Oakley Ormandy of Jesup; sisters, Diane Horton of Little Colonel's Island, Vicki Horton of Jesup and Joy (David) Gall of Baxley; a host of extended family members also survive.

A celebration of life will be 11 AM Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Crossroads Church of God with Pastor Brandon Stone and Rev. Mickey Tomberlin officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Grant Lewis, Ricky Purcell, Brad Grant, Ivey Hutto, Luke Ormandy and Shannon Hodges.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
