Gussie Fennel Smith, 85, of Jesup, died Wednesday, August 28, 2024. The Wayne County native was a Baptist and a fulltime homemaker who enjoyed being a wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She enjoyed canning, freezing vegetables, growing flowers, and sharing homemade cakes. She was the widow of Gostin Lee Smith.

Survivors are 3 sons, Danny (Kimberly) Smith, Jimmy (Melissa) Smith, and Roy Smith, all of Jesup; sisters, Audrey (Ricky) Mallard of Odum and Aletha Fennel of North Carolina; brother, Wesley Fennel of Jesup; 7 grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) Stephenson, Cortney (Dustin) Dyson, Andy (Michelle) Smith, Tiffany (Seth) Leggett, Lee Anne (Dusty) Porter, Lance Williams, and Austin Smith; 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, September 1, 2024, at                                    the Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Rev. Brandon Stone officiating. Interment will be held in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
