Glenn Edward Griffis, 84, died on the morning of June 26, 2022 in his home surrounded by his family after an extended illness. He was a life- long resident of Wayne County and was an Air Force Veteran. He was baptized into the Baptist faith and later converted to the Pentecostal faith. He attended Grace Assembly of God Church and raised his children in a loving manner and instilled Christian virtues. During his lifetime, he owned and operated Glenn Griffis Masonry Company, Country Radio and was a farmer since practically birth. He enjoyed both growing a garden for his family as well as crops for his many horses, cows, hogs and chickens. He was on the Board of the ASCS Office, the President of the CB Club and a member of the Wayne County Young Farmers Association. Glenn enjoyed spending time with his family and friends cooking out, camping, traveling, attending car races and riding his side by side, golf cart and three-wheeler. He loved to hunt and grow food plots for the deer and other wildlife. In his younger days, he loved drag racing and enjoyed driving fast and admired well- built fast cars. He displayed many trophies of his hobbies in his home and was always known as a hard worker and exhibited excellent work ethic on every job or task he encountered. He is predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Bonnie Murray Griffis, 3 sisters, a brother, and his wife, Pauline Olsen Griffis.
Survivors include his loving wife, Lois Griffis; daughters, Sharon Lane, Michelle Jenkins, and Jennifer Rue, all of Jesup; step daughter, Terry Lynn (John) Moore of Hahira, Ga.; grandchildren, Robbie Lee Rue, Allie Fledderman, Andrew Fledderman, Ashton Jenkins, Caleb Jenkins, Wesley Smith, Mia Wells, Nita Morey, Lindsey McGowan, Jordan King and Jada Mosley; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a brother, Larry Griffis and sister, Reba Leggett.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mickey Tomberlin officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
