IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Glenda Milikin
Myers
February 13, 1938 – December 3, 2025
Glenda Milikin Myers passed away December 3, 2025, in Raleigh, NC at the age of 87. She was born in Jesup, GA and lived in Raleigh, NC since 1973. Glenda grew up in Gardi, GA and was affectionately known as "Gardi Girl." She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She graduated from Wayne County High School in 1956. She attended the University of Georgia and was a proud member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She left UGA ten hours shy of an Accounting degree to get married. She lived in Savannah, GA where she welcomed her first daughter; Charlotte, NC where she welcomed her only son; Camden, SC where she welcomed her last 2 daughters; and finally settled and raised her family in Raleigh, NC. She was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Raleigh, NC. She gladly welcomed her two step-granddaughters into her home, effortlessly expanding to a family of 8. She intended on adopting them after loving and caring for them for almost 2 years. She divorced in 1981 and created an amazing life for her children as a single mother. She worked multiple jobs as a Bookkeeper through the years and worked 2-3 jobs at a time to make ends meet. She often went without, so that she could provide for her children as all mothers do. She always had a delicious meal on the table and her children never had a need for anything. All of her children are in awe and wonder at how she managed to do it all and never once complained. She often recalled that she would get home from work and cook 10 minutes, turn it off, take one of her children to wherever they needed to go, come back home, cook 15 minutes, turn it off, go pick up one of the kids, and repeat until dinner was finished and everyone was home. She completed her career as a Bookkeeper for The Boy Scouts of America and retired in 2016. She was a Stephen's Minister at St. Michael's Episcopal Church and continued giving in that capacity through the Caring Circle in her retirement community. She was the past president of the PTA at North Ridge Elementary. She also lead the Junior Great Books program while there. She was very involved in all of her daughters' Girl Scout troops and her son's Boy Scout troop. She was a prolific reader and loved to travel. She loved to sew and cook and she was amazing at both. She is known for her rolls especially at Thanksgiving. She even created a Raisin Bran Muffin recipe to serve at brunch at Sisters' Garden of Eating in Raleigh, NC. However, the thing that she enjoyed most was sitting on the sidelines and watching her children and grandchildren do what they love. She was diagnosed with an advanced stage neuroendocrine carcinoma in October 2025. She approached the diagnosis with the same strength and determination as she lived and never once complained. She continued to live her beautiful life until her final day and was loved and cared for by her entire family. Glenda touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Leola Milikin; her sister, Martha Nichols; her son-in-law, Tom Harrison; and her step-granddaughter (who called her mom for 2 years), Sheri Rawlins.
Survivors include four children, Alecia Harrison of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Ben Myers of Garner, NC, Beth Farrell (Bruce) of Raleigh, NC, and Crystal Crook (Todd) of Raleigh, NC; 11 grandchildren, Ben Harrison, of Wilmington, NC, Lori Harrison (Jillian) of Berwyn, IL, Drew Farrell of Wilmington, NC, Megan Farrell of Wilmington, NC, Alex Crook of Atlanta, GA, Thomas Crook of Raleigh, NC, Camden Crook of Raleigh, NC, Parker Crook of Raleigh, NC, Davis Crook of Raleigh, NC, Ava Crook of Raleigh, NC, and Ally Farrell of Raleigh, NC; a great-grandchild, Maddie Harrison of Berwyn, IL; sisters, Lee Herrin (Lamorris) of Jesup, GA, Corinth Milikin of Greensboro, NC, and Catherine Thornton of Brunswick, GA; and numerous nephews and nieces.
