Elma "Gene" Mansfield Moody, 90, of Jesup, Ga. and Selma, Alabama died Saturday, November 12, 2022. The Wayne County native was a member of First United Methodist Church and a homemaker and former Real Estate Agent. She enjoyed gardening, playing duplicate bridge and developing properties. Gene was a member of the Wayne County DAR and the Jesup Garden Club, where she was named "Local Citizen of the Year" and State of Georgia Garden Club Citizen of the Year.  Her husband, Clifford Moody preceded her in death.

Survivors are two daughters, Dr. Gail (Wayne) May of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Debbie (Tom) Slone of Fair Hope, Ala.; stepson, Jerry Moody of Auburn, Alabama; 4 grandchildren, Christopher (Nichole) Sloan, Rev. Remington Sloan, Amy (Chris) Elam and Cliff (Tara) May; a sister, Rosemary (Fletcher) Steverson of Jesup; several great grandchildren.

Graveside burial services were held 11 AM Saturday, November 26, 2022 in the Old Bethel Cemetery with family speakers.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup was in charge of arrangements.
