Gary Roger Smith, 79, of Townsend, Ga. passed away, Friday, August 1, 2025. The  long time McIntosh County resident was a member of Shellman Bluff Baptist Church. He was a 30- year retiree with Delta Airlines and a private pilot for 20 years with his own plane. Gary proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and enjoyed his coast life, flying, fishing, and gardening. He was predeceased by his daughter, Kimberly Lynn Turner.

Survivors are his son, Roger (Kelly) Smith of Shellman Bluff; a granddaughter, Ava Smith; his mother, Sherma Turner Smith of Savannah; a brother, Gregory (Pam) Smith of Jesup; a sister, Sharon Longworth of Savannah; several nieces and nephews and a long-time companion, Mavis Gazaway of Montgomery, Ala.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Shellman Bluff Baptist Church with Pastor Brad Butler and Greg Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in the Shellman Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Swindell, Darin Collins, Lawrence Turner, Jeff Stafford, Johnny Durden, and David Walker.

Family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Shellman Bluff Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
