Obituary

Felton Burke Jr, 73, of Jesup, Georgia passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family, under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Felton Burke Sr .and his mother, Madeline Houston; his brothers, Ronald Burke and Emory Burke. He, a devoted servant of God and a loving family man, was a member of Jesup First United Methodist Church has left an indelible mark on the world. With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to a remarkable soul who embodied faith, entrepreneurship, compassion, and wisdom. Felton displayed an exceptional drive and determination and his visionary spirit and innovative mindset led him to establish successful ventures, leaving a lasting impact on the business community. He had a heart of gold, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Whether it was lending a listening ear, offering financial support, or providing guidance, he selflessly dedicated himself to improving the lives of others. His acts of kindness and generosity touched countless hearts and served as a testament to his unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Known for his wisdom and sound counsel, Felton was a trusted advisor to many. His innate ability to see beyond the surface and offer insightful guidance earned him the admiration and respect of all who sought his advice. His words of wisdom will foever echo in the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to have known him. His mission for the past 19 years was to encourage others in his involvement with the Wayne County AA Program. Above all, Felton cherished his family above everything else. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting grandfather. His family was the center of his universe, and he showered them with boundless love, support, and encouragement. The memories they shared together will forever be cherished and serve as a reminder of his unwavering love. May his soul find eternal peace in the embrace of God, and may his memory forever be a blessing to us all.

Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Linda Rozier Burke; his children, Donna Burke Shuman of Blackshear and Chad (Mandy) Burke of Jesup; grandchildren, AJ Ring, Chelton Burke, Finley Burke, Archy Shuman, Mary-Madeline Shuman, and Fischer Burke; a brother Jimmy (Beverly) Burke of Jacksonville, North Carolina; sisters Norma (Darrell) Vaught of Baxley and Sandra (Wesley) Strickland of Waycross; sisters-in-law, Pam Burke of Jesup and Bonnie Burke of Douglas.

Celebration of Life Services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Rev. Mickey Tomberlin and Rev. Jaime Torres officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Robby Jones, Rex Odum, Joe Eubanks, Arcadio Martinez, Jr., Joseph Stewart, and Jeramie DeHart. Honorary pallbearers will be the Drop In Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church, American Steel Building Family and Connections, and the Wayne County AA Group.

Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
