September 14, 1936 – December 13, 2024
Late in the evening of December 13th,2024, Mary Elizabeth Giacoman, formerly Mary Elizabeth ("Betty") Proveaux, passed away. She was born September 14th, 1936 to Woodrow Wilson Proveaux and Gladys Parks Proveaux in Jesup, Ga. Betty was aged 88 when the Lord called her home. Known as Mrs. "G" at Charter Senior Living by her friends and staff, where she retired in Tennessee, was a dedicated nurse, with an adventurous spirit, and a deep-seated Christian faith. "Good ole Mamma" as she was known by her children, lived in at least three states, and three different countries. Parenting by example, she managed a family that at times consisted of 11 people, while she served as a nurse working in emergency rooms, surgery, and mental health. Dear mother lived through the great depression, witnessed WWII, saw the moon landing, 9/11, and journaled these historic events in her diary. She mourned the Passing of her husband Augusto, and her parents, and remained steadfast in her faith. She is survived by four children, 7 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be 2 PM Saturday, January 18, 2024 at Rinehart Chapel.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to services at the funeral home.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
