Edwin Wendell Tyre, 83, of Screven, Ga. passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Hospice of South Georgia on Monday, October 14, 2024 after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Screven where he was a farmer, a retired millwright with Local 265 out of Brunswick. Edwin served his country as a U.S. Navy Veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, his high school buddies and his special close circle of "Screven-ite" friends and neighbors. He also loved his daily 2.5 mile walks, playing golf, taking care of his many flowers around the farm and his indoor plants, cooking for others and his pride and joy, other than the grandkids, was his gorgeous pecan orchard, which he had been growing and harvesting for years.
His wife of many years, Sandra Tyre preceded him in death along with his parents, Lloyd and Lousie Tyre, his siblings, Lee Cleland, Sylvia Harvey, Phillip Tyre, his nephews, Mark Todd and Brent Tyre.
Survivors are two daughters, Wendy (Steve) Edwards of Colorado Springs, Co. and Leslie (Charles) Bishop of Jesup; his granddaughters, Chloe and Claudia Godwin; grandsons, Luke and Jed Johnson; sister-in-law, Rhonda Tyre; nieces, Donna Todd and Cathy (Jim) McGee; nephews, Craig (Sydney) Cleland, Robbie Todd and Justin Tyre; his loving granddog, Molly.
