Eddie Perkins, 83, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. The Wayne County native was a member of Odum Baptist Church. Eddie owned the former Perkins Hardwood Company, Altamaha Timber Company and Altamaha Equipment Company. Eddie had many community involvements: former outstanding Jaycee of the Year, farm and real estate developer, past county commissioner, member of the Forestry Association and Cattlemen's Association, lifetime Elk's Club member, former Governor Busbee's staff, arbitrator for the State Bar and large supporter of hospice. His sisters, Joyce Quick and Dorothy Mallard preceded him in death.
Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Susie Perkins of Jesup; two sons, Ken (Melissa) Perkins and Mike (Ginger) Perkins, both of Jesup; a daughter, Haley (Jack) Brown of Odum; 7 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters, Melba Stephens of Odum and Greta Vinson of Macon.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, April 12, 2024 at Rinehart Chapel with Rev. Dale Bange officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Dixon, Mike Lloyd, Chester Thompson, David Plunkett, Grant Lewis, Fred Fender, Jean Bennett, Tom Collins, Russell Bailey, Glynn Courson, Tony Clark and the staff of Hospice of South Georgia.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, GA 31545.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
