Obituary

Dorothy "Dottie" Stafford Yeomans, 72, of Jesup, Ga. died Friday, November 18 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her family and friends. She faced each day of her journey with grace, gratitude, and an unwavering faith. There is no doubt that she modeled her faith to all she encountered guided by one of her favorite verses, Luke 12:48.

Born in McIntosh County, Dottie lived most of her life in Jesup.  She graduated from Wayne County High in 1968 and often spoke fondly about her dear and now lifelong friends, football games, prom, bonfires, and homecoming. With hard work and determination, she put herself through Brunswick Junior College, Georgia Southern University, as well as nursing and anesthesia school. Dottie served the community and Wayne Memorial Hospital for 37 years as a nurse anesthetist, where she formed cherished friendships and provided the best care to every patient she met.

Dottie was a member of Jesup First United Methodist Church, the Jesup Garden Club, the Wayne County Touchdown Club, and the Class of 1968 Reunion Committee. She also served on the Fairhaven Board and volunteered with the Good Samaritan Center, Tabitha's Place, and the Bereavement Committee at Jesup First United Methodist Church.

Dottie loved her dogs and would take in all who came into her yard. She had a passion for gardening, cheering on the Wayne County Yellow Jackets on Friday nights, the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturdays, and being a Gabby to her grandsons, whom she adored. She was known for her impeccable fashion and accessories, as well as her ability to bake the most delicious pound cake. Dottie loved God, her girls and their families, her aunts, uncles, and cousins, extended family, and her friends who were family with her whole heart. One never left her presence without knowing how much she loved them.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Alma Stafford, husband, Marl Steven Yeomans, son, Cy Judson Yeomans, and father and mother-in-law, Kennic and LaWanda Yeomans

Survivors are her two daughters Whitney (Brock) Morman of Newnan, Georgia and Raegan (Jon) Harvey of Fayetteville, Arkansas; three grandsons, Mason and Wesley Morman of Newnan, Georgia, and Graham Harvey of Fayetteville, Arkansas, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family, as well as a tribe of loving friends who are family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Jesup First United Methodist Church on 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 21, 2022  at Jesup First Methodist Church  with Pastor Rebecca Duke-Barton officiating. All who can attend are asked to wear your biggest, brightest, and boldest earrings and jewelry in her loving memory. Private interment will be  in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary.

Our family is so very grateful for the love and prayers said for Mama and our family during her illness. To those who have loved her, prayed with her, cried with her, laughed with her, encouraged her, and comforted her, there are no words to express our most sincere gratitude. What an example of love and friendship you all have been. Mama would often say "It's good to be loved," and that she is.
