Dorothy Faye Bennett Purvis, 82, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Monday, October 26, 2026. The Wayne County native was a Victory Tabernacle Church of God member and a retiree with Georgia Narrow Fabrics. She enjoyed shopping and her life as a “Nanny” to her family. Her husband, Steve Randall Purvis preceded her in death along with her parents, S. A. and Jessie Mae Hires Bennett and brother-in-law, Danny Harris.

Survivors are her daughter, Nancy (Larry) Tyre of Jesup; son, Steve (Debbie) Purvis of Brunswick; sisters, Lottie (Julian) Jackson and Donna Harris, both of Jesup; brothers, Silas “Jr.” (Joann) Bennett and Danny (Toni) Bennett, both of Jesup; grandchildren, Cody (Kursten) Tyre, Eli Tyre, Ashleigh Purvis and Corey Purvis; a great grandchild, Livy Tyre; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of her life will be 11 AM Thursday, October 29, 2026 at Rinehart Chapel with Pastor Keith Lairsey officiating. Private interment will be in the Bennett Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
