Donald "Don" Jerry Thornton, 66, of Screven, Ga. passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021.  The Wayne County native was a retired farmer. He liked to mechanic on many motors, including hot rods and tractors.  Don loved all kinds of animals but especially dogs. Compassionate, patient and humorous- his son called him a "salt of the Earth" kind of person who modeled love at all times. His daughter, Carmen Thornton preceded him in death along with his parents, Colon and Evelyn Thornton and his sister, Ree Hubbard.

Survivors are his son, Donavan Thornton of Screven; 4 sisters, Susan Epley of Screven, Sandra Ring of Helena, Montana, Linda Strickland and Beth Thornton, both of Jesup; brothers, Ricky Thornton and Vance Thornton, both of Screven; several nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life services will be 2 PM Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church Social Hall with Elder Jerry Lightsey officiating. Private family burial will be in the Big Creek Cemetery.
