Donald K. Mathis, 70, of Screven, Ga. died Saturday, October 14, 2023.  The Wayne County native was a member of Ephesus Church of God in Bristol.  For many years, he was a construction roofer and millwright worker. Donald enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.  His parents, Vernon and Joy Denison Mathis preceded him in death along with his sister, Vern Ann Mathis and step-daughter, Jerrie Tyre.

Survivors are his wife of 40 years, Verna Ann Jones Mathis of Screven; two children, Carey (Andrea) Mathis of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. and Joy (Trent) Pope of Dublin; 5 stepchildren, Phil Jackson, Lee Jackson, Jenny Miller, Debra Thornton and Randy Boyette; several great grandchildren; sister, Frankie Mathis and brother, Frank Mathis; several other extended family members.

Memorial services will be 3 PM Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Rinehart Chapel.

The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to services at the funeral home.
