Donald "D.J." Lee Johnson, 60, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024 under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.  The Florida native had lived in Wayne County the past several years and was a retired correctional officer with the Federal Corrections Institute (FCI) in Jesup.  He served his country with the U.S. Army for 9 years and then served with the Air National Guard for 18 years.  Some favorite pastimes were watching old movies, wresting, collecting antiques and building Lego structures. His parents, Clyde and Helen Johnson preceded him in death along with his brother, Billy Johnson.

Survivors are his wife of 20 years, Sandra D. Johnson of Jesup; daughter, Renee Johnson of Brunswick; 3 sons, Brooks (Heather) Johnson and Kori Johnson, both of Jesup, Cameron Johnson of Thomasville; step children, Grace (Richard) Roberts of Waycross and Elizabeth (Kameron) Woods of Jesup; 7 grandchildren, Alyssa, Morgan, Presley, Elena Johnson, Mila and LeAndre Woods, Lily Roberts; sister, Holly Harrison of Camilla and brother, David (Evie) Johnson of Thomasville; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Rinehart Chapel with Rev. Stanley Todd officiating along with military honors. Private family interment will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
