Thurman Donald "Don" Johnson, 88, of Ludowici, Ga. died Friday, September 12, 2025 under the care of GHC Hospice. The Wayne County native have lived in Ludowici for the past 25 years, was a member of Elim Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran.  He spent many years as a maintenance foreman with Great Dane Trailers. He enjoyed fishing, cheering on the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs Football Team.  Don loved to feast on crab legs. His wife, Virginia Long Johnson preceded him in death along with his son, Thurman Donald Johnson, II and granddaughters, Shirley Harter and Angela Mendez.

Survivors are two daughters, Regina Lynn (Vance) Schearback and Deborah Kay (Drew) Harter both of Ludowici; a son, Aaron Ray (Carol) Johnson of Midway; grandchildren, Crystal, Trey, Joe, Andrea, Vance II, Sheri, Semra and Shannah; several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Elim Baptist Church with Rev. Austin Burgess and David Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Elim Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Drew Harter, Vance Shearback, Trey Johnson, Vance Shearback, II, Kevin Davis and Greg Charron.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
