William Donald "Don" Blocker, Sr., 91, of Screven, Ga. died Saturday, June 18, 2022.  The Wayne County native and U.S. Army Veteran was a member of Screven First Baptist Church. Don graduated in 1948 from Screven High School and at the age of 18 went to serve his country in the Korean War.  When he returned home, the G.I. Bill afforded him to attend UGA and receive his education degree.  He loved to farm, especially growing watermelons while he worked his fulltime job as a carpenter, educator, basketball coach and vocational supervisor.  When he wasn't working or farming, he would fish or play cards or checkers. His parents preceded him in death along with his brother, Alvin and sister, Martha Ann Phillips, grandson, Ben Grantham and son-in-law, Buddy Tate.

Survivors are his two daughters, Rhonda (Frank) Pearson of St. Simons Island and Kim Tate of Screven; son, Chip Blocker of Screven and their mother, Marion Pope Blocker; 5 grandchildren, Lori Hamm, Erin Driggers, Bo (Aletha) Mann, Sasha Theus and Summer (Jereme) Kennedy; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, June Gray and Mary Hammond.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Screven First Baptist Church with Brother Durwood Miller and Frank Pearson officiating. Interment will follow in the Screven City Cemetery with military honors. Active pallbearers will be family and friends.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
