Derrick Wayne Simpson, 54, of Jesup, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026. The Virginia native and life long North Carolina resident was a Christian and loved football, basketball, and enjoyed all sports. He was very detail oriented and liked Westerns with John Wayne being a favorite. He was predeceased by his father, Teddy L. Simpson, Sr., and a brother, Teddy Simpson, Jr.

Survivors are his mother, Peggy Holliday Flores of Jesup; a sister, Angela (Jason) Rainwater of Baxley; a brother, Mark (Tressie) Simpson of North Carolina; several nieces or nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Stanley Todd officiating.

Family will receive friends at the cemetery.
