Dedra Dukes Shuman of Swainsboro, Ga, 69, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.   Dedra was born in Ludowici, Ga on December 27, 1955.   She was brought up and lived in Jesup, Ga for many years until she relocated to Reidsville then Swainsboro, Ga.   She attended Wayne County High School and Georgia Southern College.

Dedra is survived by her son, J.R. (Megan) Shuman and grandchildren Ellie and Teddy, as well as her precious fur baby Oz.   She is also survived by her siblings David Dukes, Denise Voyles and Lynn (Danny) Witt; her nieces and nephews Deanna (Chris) Barlow, David (Rochelle) Dukes; Taylor Voyles; Caitlyn Witt, as well as a multitude of cousins and close and dear friends.  She was the daughter of the late David and Velma Dukes.

Dedra was employed as a school teacher for many years prior to working with RESA until her retirement.   During her retirement years, Dedra loved being "DBs" to her grandkids and spending time with her family.   She also loved spending time with her special and wonderful friends on Tybee Island that she considered family, and she loved to go to and spend time at Disney.

Memorial services will be held 11 AM Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Jesup First Baptist Church.   A celebration of her life will be held after the service at the family home on Odum Highway in Jesup with all invited to come and share their memories of Dedra.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation to honor our veterans and 1st Responders and their families at https://www.garysinisefoundation.org .   This organization was near and dear to Dedra.
