Deanna Marie Mosley, a lifelong resident of Wayne County, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the age of 48. Born and reared in the heart of her hometown, Deanna lived a life full of compassion, creativity, and determination-touching countless lives through her many gifts and her deep love for others.
A 1995 honor graduate of Wayne County High School, Deanna stood out for both her intellect and her heart. She was involved in multiple programs during her school years, including serving as a candy striper and studying electronics at ATC. She also showcased her musical gifts as a talented saxophone player in the marching band and a singer at community events during her teen years. Her CB radio handle, "Candybar" became a nickname fondly remembered by many.
After high school, Deanna followed her passion for beauty by studying cosmetology. She later earned a degree in education and ultimately found her true calling in nursing-where she once again graduated with honors. Her career was a testament to her compassionate spirit. She worked as a nurse case manager at D. Ray James in Folkston, where coworkers affectionately called her "Lil Mo". She also served in emergency rooms, hospital floors, and pediatric care at Winn Community Hospital, always leaving a lasting impression through her skill and heart.
Deanna was vibrant, witty, eccentric, highly artistic, and unapologetically herself. She brought energy and joy wherever she went. A lover of books, culinary arts, music, and dance, she was a woman of creativity and depth. She was a loving daughter, a treasured friend to many, the "fun" aunt, and the strong-minded but fiercely loving older sister. More than anything, Deanna was a devoted mother to her children and a proud grandmother to her grandchildren-her greatest treasures. Her mother, Judith Marie Hodges Mosley preceded her in death along grandparents, Robert and Minnie Mosley, Clyde and Leah E. Hodges.
Survivors are her father, R.N. Mosley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Vicky Osborne; children, Nathan (Kiley) Young, Shasta (Blaine) Wade, Leah Young, Journey Osborne, Erica Blanton and Kaylynn Smith; grandchildren, Brandt and Samuel Young, Brody, Brylee, Brix, Bentleigh and Taylor Wade, Briar and Liam; siblings, Mindy Mosley, Megan Kelly, Jessee (Hannah) Kelly, Matthew "Ziggy" Mosley, Mitchell Mosley, and Bobby (Pam) Mosley; a special aunt, Lee Mosley Roberts; a loving step-mother, Sally Mosley.
Deanna's legacy is one of love, strength, creativity and service. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of her life will be 11 AM Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Rinehart Chapel with Rev. Alphya Benefield officiating. Interment will be private.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Rinehart Chapel.
