Obituary

Deal Edgar (Eddie) Powell, 73, of Jesup, Ga. went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 after a short illness in his home. He was surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of Southeast Georgia. The Waller Texas native was born to the late Lester J. and Edna Earle Powell and lived most of his life in Jesup. Eddie retired from Central Issue Facility as a classifier of Army Equipment located on Ft. Stewart, Georgia with partial timed served in the U.S. Army Stateside and Vietnam with 33 years of dedicated service. He also served as a trained National Guardsman for 5 years. Eddie was a member of the Marketplace International Church and Training Center of Jesup. Eddie loved fishing, hunting, cooking, bargain hunting at flea markets and yard sales. His favorite activity was spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Lester J. and Edna Earle Powell; his son, Steven Deal Powell, sisters, Happy, Betty and Glenda; one brother, Clifford.

Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Kathy Powell of Jesup; daughter, Angela (Tracy) Walker; son, Richie (Michele) Powell; grandchildren, Brittany Lariscy, David L. Lariscy II, Laci Lariscy, Dalton Powell, Conner Powell, Hanna Powell, Tori Walker; great grandchildren, Jordynn, Arianna and Jalaya; sisters, Cynthia Graeter and Sherry Jewell, both of Texas; mother-in-law, Peggy Mason Kirkland "Ma"; his special side kick, Ethan Ussery; special "adopted sons", William Rinehart, lll Wesley Mansfield, Kevin Manuel, Phillip Price , Brian Cheshire and the late Mark Watson; "adopted daughter", Lisa Marie Edwards and a large host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 20, 2023 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Rev. Ray Hamilton, Rev. Tony Simmons and Rev. Cherry Simmons officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, Ga.  Active pallbearers will be Trevor Mason, Will Mason, J.D. Mason, Wesley Mansfield Kevin Manuel and Lee Knight. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Bob Mason, Ethan Ussery,  Randolph Cox and brother-in-law, Anthony Mason.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.
