David Robert Ehrlich, 63, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023. He was born on December 16, 1959 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Herman G. and Rita (Rosenthal) Ehrlich. Upon graduation in 1977 from Classical High School in Springfield, he enlisted in the United States Army. David served for 14 years in the military in transportation. He left the service in 1992. He then enrolled in Columbus (GA) State University, first securing a degree in sociology and then returning soon after to earn teaching certification in special education. David was a special education teacher at the high school level in the Columbus school system, leaving teaching in 2017. Wanting to be nearer to his children Jessica and Jason, who had both located in southern Georgia, he moved to Jesup in 2018. David had become very active with American Legion Post 311, serving as their treasurer and historian. He was involved in organizing the Veterans Day Parade each year, as well as a number of other community projects that benefited the area. Cars had always been a big part of David's life, and he continued to follow that interest in Jesup by becoming a member of the Altamaha Classic Cruisers and exhibiting his prized vintage BMW in their shows. David also had a lifelong love of reading, particularly books about United States history. He followed current events closely and always had a well-informed point of view.

David is and will be dearly missed by his daughter, Jessica of Jesup, son, Jason of Statesboro, brother Mark of Rhode Island and four grandchildren - Annabelle, Cassady, Ashley and Matthew.

A visitation will be held 10 to 11 AM Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville at 1 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wayne Memorial Hospital Infusion Center, 865 S. First Street, Jesup, GA 31545.
