David McRackan Baldwin, 72, of Jesup, son of Betty and Charlie Baldwin of Ashburn, GA, passed away after a prolonged illness on Sunday, September 20, 2026. He was born and raised in Ashburn, GA. David was of the Baptist and Pentecostal faiths, he graduated in business from ABAC and earned a MBA in finance from the University of Georgia. He was employed for 12 years at the Gilman Paper Company in St. Mary's, GA, five years in middle school teaching, and since February 2012, he worked with the Georgia Department of Transportation buying land for building roads. His hobby was the history of Turner County, GA, and its cities that he learned from reading microfilm newspapers. For about 15 years, he wrote a weekly history column for the Wiregrass Farmer newspaper, a book with Gail Watson Walls, named Turner County: A Pictorial History, and he managed a Facebook media group for the county citizens. He was a life member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans #37111 and a life member of the Military Order of the Stars and Bars #5404 since joining in 1995, in honor of his great-grandfather, Captain William Gaston Baldwin of Whiteville, NC.

Survivors are his son, Mack (Katie Green) Baldwin, his two grandchildren, Jack and Janie Mae Baldwin, all of Arnoldsville, GA, and his brother, Paul Baldwin (Debbie Crawford) and several nieces and nephews.

He will be interred at the Baldwin plot at Rosehill Annex in Ashburn, Ga.
