Darrell Everett Miller Jr., age 70, of Jesup, Ga., formerly of Elmwood and Prescott Wis., died unexpectedly at HCA Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL on July 13th 2026. Originally from New York State, a sense of adventure and hatred of the winter started Darrell on a journey south during his teen years. He landed in Miami FL, where he met and married Canduis Caudill. They made their way to Georgia where Darrell joined the Army. He served for 4 years and was honorably discharged in 1978. After his first marriage ended, he met Bridget Seifert and they were wed on April 1, 1981. They returned to Bridget’s hometown of Prescott, Wis. and eventually bought a house in Elmwood, Wis. Darrell worked for years at Smeads in Hastings, Minn. and The Tree House in Cottage Grove, Minn.- all while he attended Dakota County Votech for certificates in Warehouse Management, Landscape Design and, finally, Truck Driving. Darrell drove over-the-road for nearly 25 years, until injuries and health concerns forced him into early retirement. It was then that he made the decision to never endure another midwest winter and moved back to Georgia, near two of his daughters.

Darrell is survived by his first wife, Canduis and his second wife, Bridget; sister, Leslie of Syracuse, Ny.; daughters, Melissa Miller of Williston, Fla., Nicole Baker (Mike) of Elmwood, Wis., Angela Roe (James) of Menomonie, Wis. and Jennifer Miller of Elmwood, Wis.; grandchildren, Hunter, Bretta (Liam), Matthew, Violet, Emily (Nate), Bella, Simon, Maggie, Tristan, Lucy and Alainna.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-mother, mother-in-law and father-in-law, an infant daughter and grandson, Jacob.

Per Darrell’s lifelong request, his ashes will be spread in Georgia at a later date, and a memorial headstone will be placed at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Rinehart Funeral Home in Jesup, Ga. assisted the family with arrangements.
