Cleve Murphy, 84, of Jesup, Ga. died Thursday, August 29, 2024 in the Hospice of South Georgia Inpatient Unit.  The Pierce County native had lived in Screven most of his life and was a member of Screven First Baptist Church. Cleve was a hardworking and life long farmer who enjoyed NASCAR.  His wife and mother of his children, Jaquetta Thornton Murphy preceded him in death along with his daughter, Jennifer Murphy Milton and son, Jeffery Murphy; parents, C.W. and Nora Murphy and brothers, H.C., Johnny, Benny and Gerald Murphy.

Survivors are two daughters, Rene (Ivey) Hutto and Regina (Mike) Mussara, both of Jesup; a daughter-in-love, Tina Murphy of Screven; a son-in-law, Bubba Milton; two sisters, Geneva (Terry) Crosby of Waycross and Jeanette (Charles) Bischoff of Screven; a brother, David (Joann) Murphy of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; 9 grandchildren, Alan (Jessica) Murphy, Chris (Buffy) Murphy, Joseph (Cheyenne) Milton, Brandon (Dara) Mussara, Jacob (Hannah) Milton, Ivey (Kevin ) Brannon, Hunter (Brystal) Mussara, Parker Mussara and Joshua Milton; 6 great grandchildren, Hamp Murphy, Kassidy Murphy, Maddox Murphy, Cameron Murphy, Hudson Mussara, Ellie and Kinsey Milton; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Rinehart Chapel with Rev. Stanley Todd officiating. Interment will follow in the Screven City Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Alan and Chris Murphy, Jacob and Joshua Milton, Hunter, Brandon and Parker Mussara. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Hospice of South Georgia.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
