Obituary

Screven, Ga. Clay Tyre, 54 of Screven, Ga. died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 in St. Joseph's Hospital after a very short illness. The Wayne County, Ga. native was a member of Salem Primitive Baptist Church, a retired machinist and FRA mechanical inspector with CSX and owner of Tyre Forestry Company. Clay loved to watch baseball and encouraged young people with their skills. He always enjoyed visiting with his friends. Hunting and NASCAR were favorite pastimes. He was predeceased by his parents, Hubert and Edith Rogers Tyre; his sister, Marsha Tyre Dixon; a niece, Brandi Dixon Deal. Survivors are his wife of 34 years, Linda Aspinwall Tyre of Screven, Ga.; a son and daughter-in-law, Will and Rachel Tyre of Screven, Ga.; a loved grandson, Sammy Tyre; an aunt, Elna Cook of Marietta, Ga.; a mother-in-law, Bobbie Jean Aspinwall of Screven, Ga.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Debbie and David Six of Screven, Ga.; a nephew, Jonathan and Sally Six of Raleigh,N.C.; a great nephew, G.W. Six; a "little brother", Joey Miller of Screven, Ga.; several cousins. Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Friday, December 13, 2013 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Six, Bro. Durwood Miller and Jason Deal officiating. Interment will be in the Lake Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Godwin, Doug Miller, Colby Wright, Brad Howell, Bruce Jackson, Jr.,and Andrew Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Hank Corbitt, Felipe Martinez, Bruce Howard, Wade Odum, Donnie Whitaker, Opal Lynn, Gary Smith, Carey Martin, Franklin Burch, Jacob Nolan, Allen Anderson, Joy and Steven Meeks, CSX employees, the "Jiffy Crew": Emory Clary, Macky McReady, Melvin Boyette, Randy Pridgen, Kenneth Tyre, Donald Boyette, Robert Boyette and Gopher Roberson; the Wayne County High School Baseball Team, Jay Brinson and Corey Wood. Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M. Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, Ga. 31545.
