Charlotte Michelle Whitely Miller
“Raheemah” (Um Abdul Malik)
Returned to her Creator on October 22, 2026
Charlotte Michelle Whitely Miller, known with deep love and reverence as Raheemah (Um Abdul Malik), returned to Allah on October 22, 2026, shortly following the sudden passing of her beloved son, James Matthew Hunt III (Abdul Malik).
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Frances Whitely and Thaylor Whitely Sr, Charlotte spent her final years in Odum, Georgia. She was the cherished wife of James Miller (Atif Abdul Hameed) and the devoted matriarch of a family spanning five generations. A loving mother of twelve children, grandmother to more than twenty-five grandchildren, and great-grandmother to many, she nurtured a family whose lives carry forward her teachings, strength, and love.
Rooted in her devotion to Al-Islam, Raheemah lived a life of faith, purpose, and service. Honored as a Founding Mother and pioneer of her faith community, she helped establish the foundations upon which generations would learn, worship, and grow. She served as community secretary, founding principal of the community school in Tennessee, and a dedicated choral coach for youth nasheed (choir) groups. Through her leadership, she cultivated knowledge, discipline, confidence, and love for The Almighty Creator in the young people entrusted to her care.
Her service extended far beyond any title. Renowned for her hospitality and generous spirit, Raheemah welcomed newcomers, taught foundational classes, and mentored countless individuals. Her home offered welcome, her guidance offered direction, and her steadfast presence gave others strength. She understood that building a community began with caring for its people, of which she gave generously.
She was a source of wisdom, dignity, and enduring love. Her legacy lives in the lessons she taught, the traditions she preserved, and generations she helped raise.
She is survived by her husband, James Miller (Atif Abdul Hameed); eleven children; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her brothers, Thaylor Whitely Jr., Michael Whitely, Robert Whitely, and James Whitely. and her extended family. Her beloved son, James Matthew Hunt III, preceded her in his passing.
Raheemah leaves an enduring legacy of faith, education, hospitality, and family devotion. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and honored through the lives of those she nurtured.
“Indeed, we belong to God (Allah), and indeed, to Him we return.”
— Holy Qur’an, 2:156
May The Almighty Creator forgive her, envelop her in His mercy, grant her Paradise, and bring comfort and steadfastness to all who mourn her.
