Jesup, Ga. Joseph "Cecil" Boatright, 76 of Jesup, Ga. died Saturday, March 22, 2014 of accidental injuries in a farming accident. He was a dedicated trucker and farmer for over 40 years winning the "Million Mile Award" for safe driving. As a farmer his greatest love was teaching his grandchildren how to farm the land, operate tractors and ride horses and four wheelers. He was predeceased by his son, Joey Boatright, 3 brothers and a sister. Survivors are his wife, Elvera Thornton Boatright of Jesup, Ga.; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Jerry Chapman of Mt. Pleasant, Ga., Vicky and Odell Chapman of Vine Grove, Ky., Linda and Tommy Quarterman of Brunswick, Ga.; a son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Drina Boatright of Odum, Ga.; 3 sisters, Faye Thornton of Ludowici, Ga., Dell Pruitt of Jesup, Ga. and Ardelie Thomas of Alma, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be 11 A.M. Monday, March 24, 2014 at Flint Branch Cemetery with Rev. Dennie Waters officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery.
