Carroll L. Thornton, Sr., 84, of Jesup, Ga. died Friday, March 25, 2022.  The Baxley native and U.S. Air Force Veteran was a former civil service employee and attended the former Hickory Street Church of God. He enjoyed playing mandolin and trading musical instruments. His wife, Linda Joyce Oliver Thornton preceded him in death along with his brother, Joseph Harold Thornton and sister, Doretha Rowland.

Survivors are 4 daughters, Janet (Danny) Briscoe of Bessemer, Ala., Janice (Gene) Davis of Springfield, Linda Thornton (Scott Wallace) of Ellijay and Cheryl (Vic) Anderson of Perry; two sons, Ronnie Thornton of Bessemer, Ala. and Carroll "Bo" (Shelia) Thornton, Jr. of Jesup; grandchildren, Ashley (Henry) Rutledge, Mara (Kelby) Karcher, Joshua (Kirsten) Anderson, Stephen (Keri) McFarlin, Preston Davis, Brooks Davis, Clay Davis, Michael (Brittany) Todd, Kim Thornton and Steven Thornton; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Rinehart Chapel with Rev. Gene Davis officiating.  Interment will follow in the Ephesus Church of God Cemetery in Bristol with military honors. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
