Carolyn Sharpe Jones, 86, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025. The Appling County native had lived in Wayne County most of her life and was a devoted member of Altamaha Baptist Church where she loved being a part of the Love Thy Neighbor Sunday School Class and cherished the fellowship of her church family. Her enduring faith shaped her life and inspired those who knew her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,sister, and aunt whose kindness and devotion touched everyone who knew her. Throughout her life, she worked at Waynline, served as financial secretary at Calvary Baptist Church, and was a valued secretary for Drs. Lawrence Bennett and Dr. Bartow Parkerson as well as Dr. Jon Simmons.
Carolyn found her greatest joy in caring for her home and family. She took pride in keeping an immaculately organized house and delighted in cooking her grandchildren's favorites-especially her brownies, stewed tomatoes, peas and butterbeans. She looked forward to "Sisters Day", each quarter, as well as family gatherings on Christmas Eve and Easter in Odum. She also enjoyed spending time in her yard, tending to her flowers and fruit trees and watching the Atlanta Braves.
She lived a simple and contented life, centered on faith, family, and love. Her gentle spirit and steady devotion will be remembered by all who knew her, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
Her parents, James Robert and Lola Mae Stroud Sharpe preceded her in death along with her brothers, Jim Paul and Tommy Sharpe and sisters, Annex Sharpe Cowan and Kay Sharpe Richardson; brothers-in-law, Jimmie Huey, Seaborn Cowan, Larry Stease and Clay Nadeau; great grandchild, Murphy Marie Jones.
Survivors are her husband of 65 years, Henry Robert Jones; sons, Jeff (Celeste) Jones and Greg(Melony) Jones; sisters, Shelva Jean Sharpe (Johnny) Wade, Laverne Sharpe Huey, Betty Sharpe Steese; brothers, Winston (Sherry) Sharpe and Aleta Sharpe Nadeau; grandchildren, Caroline (Ryan) Johnson, Patrick (Sutton) Jones, Logan (Allie) Jones, and Aidan Jones; great grandchildren, Wynne and Tess Johnson, Penelope Jones, Dean Johnson, Hugh, Eloise, Harrison and Addison Jones; sisters-in-law, Ruby Jones Brannen and Mary Jones Peacock; brother-in-law, Kelly Richardson and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Rinehart Chapel with Chris Hires and Ray Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery with Cyndi Dent speaking. Active pallbearers will be her family. Honorary pallbearers will be her Love Thy Neighbor Sunday School Class members.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
