Caroline McDaniel Raines, 51, of Jesup, Ga. died Monday, January 23, 2023 of injuries sustained from an automobile accident.  The long term Wayne County native was a 1989 Wayne County High School graduate and later received her degree in Phlebotomy from Coastal Pines Technical College.  She enjoyed working with her patients in Wayne Memorial Hospital and was a member of New Life Church. Her second love was getting fresh shrimp off the boats in Brunswick for her many customers. Her dad, Owen Raines and maternal grandparents, Thad and June McDaniel preceded her in death along with her first cousin, Freddie Cox.

Survivors are her daughters, Chasity Bowen and Melanie Newbern, both of Jesup; mother, Martha McDaniel (Cliff) Gilmer of Jesup; sister, Mandy Raines Spear of St. Simons Island; two step-brothers, Scott Collins Gilmer of Guyton and Troy Alex Gilmer of Isle of Palm, SC; 7 grandchildren, Jayda, Alexis, Tristen, River, Logan, Korbean  and Alec.

Graveside memorial services will be held 2 PM Thursday, January 26, 2023 in Thomasville City Cemetery, 800 E. Jackson Street, Thomasville, GA 31799 with Rev. Steve Larson officiating.

A celebration of life service will be held 4:30 PM Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Grace Assembly of God, 2324 Rayonier Road, Jesup, GA 31545.
