Carl Mallard, Sr., 81, of Jesup, Ga. died Monday, October 30, 2023 at the Hospice of South Georgia Inpatient Care Unit.  He was reared in Sylvania and traveled to several military bases using his carpentry skills for housing and airplane hangars. The U.S. Air Force Veteran was a P.O.W. with his 3 tours of the Vietnam War. He also worked for NASA to take care of the animals used in space exploration. The workhorse didn't spend much time on hobbies but when he did, he would raise dogs, garden and fish. His brother, Herman preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Shirla Mallard of Jesup; a daughter, Evelyn (Jason) Cason of Jesup; two sons, Carl, Jr. (Tenelle) Mallard of Jesup and Carl Alton Mallard of San Antonio, Tx.; 4 grandsons, Tyler (Josselynn) Mallard, Arvon Lewis,Jr., Preston Mallard and Gabriel Lewis; a sister, Alma Ruth Mallard.

Graveside funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, November 2, 2023 in Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery with Rev. Dale Bange officiating along with the U.S. Air Force presentation of the flag. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to services at the cemetery.
