Leila Berneice Leonard, 92, of Screven, Ga. died Saturday, June 4, 2022. Born in Paducah, Kentucky and raised in Leachville, Arkansas, she came to live in Wayne County as the young bride of E.C. Leonard, a native of Wayne County. She was a loving, hard-working mother who was proud of her family. Her husband of 64 years, E.C. Leonard preceded her in death along with 5 brothers.

Survivors are two daughters, Willina (Vernon) Vinson of Griffin and Tanya (Chuck) Hicks of Savannah; 4 sons, Dale (Melissa) Leonard of Screven, Kenny (Suzy) Leonard of Jesup, Danny (Shari) Leonard of Evans, and Jessie (Donna) Leonard of Brooklyn, Md.; a brother, Horace (Emma) Lindley of Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Bessie Kersey; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Rev. Elliott Aspinwall officiating. Private interment will be in Jesup City Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to a charity of your choice.
