Aletha Purcell, 100, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024. She was the eldest member of Altamaha Baptist Church and worked for the Wayne County School System for over 20 years. Aletha was happiest when she was at home with her family and supporting all of their activities. She was preceded in death by her son, Cecil Edwin Purcell Jr. and her husband of 50 years, Cecil Edwin Purcell Sr.

Survivors are a son, Ken Purcell, grandson Drew Purcell, granddaughters Molly Franks and Kaleigh Godfrey, great granddaughter Maizie Godfrey, and many extended family.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Altamaha Baptist Church with Pastor Bob Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her family and friends.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
