Ruth Edens Platt, 91 of Fernandina Beach, FL died Thursday, October 14, 2010 in Golden Living Center of Jesup, Ga. after an extended illness. The Virginia native had lived in Fernandina Beach, FL most of her life and resided in the Golden Living Center the past 6 years. She was a member of Yulee Baptist Church in Yulee, FL and was a retired supervisor with Terminal Paper Bag Co. She was predeceased by her husband: Lawrence Platt.
Survivors are 2 daughters: Jean (Gerald) Purvis of Blackshear, Ga., Mary Jane (Richard) Thigpen of Blackshear, Ga.; 2 sons: Clarence (Elaine) Edens of Jackson, MS and Robert (Carol) Edens of Calcasieu, LA; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; step-children: M.B.(Janice) Platt, Dwight (Denise) Platt, all of Yulee, FL, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from the Oxley-Heard Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Bosque-Bellow Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, October 18, 2010 from the Oxley-Heard Funeral Home in Fernandina Beach, FL.
